Roger started his professional career in Buffalo, New York after graduating from the University of Buffalo in 1971. He worked at Daniel Joseph & Company, a seven partner firm that served manufacturing, retail and non-profit clients. Roger obtained his CPA certification in 1976 from the State of New York. He then joined a CPA in Norwich, New York who was looking for a younger partner and they started Bach & Schoenbeck, Professional Corporation where the focus was on small retail businesses, restaurants, Interstate Commerce Commission clients, school districts and towns.
Roger was captured by the scenic splendor and quality of life Vermont offered and in 1982, joined the Housing Finance Agency where he managed the financial operations for over 20 years. Stints at Sallie Mae in Virginia and also at New England Culinary Institute followed, before he settled back to his public accounting roots.
Roger has also been involved in community service representing the Town of Richmond on the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission for nine years including a two-year term as Chairman. He also served as the audit committee chair for a low income focused credit union for several years and was elected to the Vermont Golf Association executive committee for two 3 year terms. Roger resides in Waterbury Center with his wife, Lynda, two dogs and four cats. He is an avid golfer and enjoys kayaking and cross country skiing, enabling him to enjoy both the peace of the mountains, the beauty of the lakes and the spirit of the loon.
